Buckwheat groats are simply husked buckwheat seeds - plants from the knotweed family. Her seeds are incredibly good and rich in nutrients. At the beginning she performed in Asia, it was still cultivated there before the era! It was not until the Middle Ages that it reached Europe and settled permanently into an irreplaceable component of traditional Polish, Ukrainian or Belarusian cuisine.

From buckwheat you can get different type of groats, the most popular is roasted porridge, which gains its taste and aroma under the influence of temperature. In turn, unroasted buckwheat is dried grains, not heat-treated. It has a green shade, it has a much finer flavor than roasted, but you have to cook it longer. Works well as a component of many dishes.

Unroasted buckwheat groats do not have gluten in them so they can be consumed by people who do not tolerate this ingredient. It contains a lot of fiber, which supports weight control, regulates appetite and has a beneficial effect on the stomach. You will also find a dose of B vitamins. For this reason, it is worth buying this amazingly good and healthy product.

A method of preparing

Grains should be put in a container and rinsed with cold water until the pour water is completely clean. Add two teaspoons of oil to the boiling water and pour the washed down porridge. Stick on a medium flame until it boils, then reduce the heat and cover the pot with a lid. Stir the groats for about 15 minutes. After this time, remove the porridge from the fire and put under cover for 10 minutes. Finally, add salt.

Cake with fruits:

You need 400g of unroasted buckwheat, one banana, 200g of blueberries and 200g of dried dates. Wash the grits in cold water for 12 hours, pour the dates into hot water and keep them soft. You pour water from both pots, shredded dates in a blender with banana, add porridge and blend everything thoroughly. You put the whole mass into a tart mold and put blueberries on it. Bake for 40 minutes at 180 degrees.

Cutlets of buckwheat

You need:

  • 1 glass of unroasted buckwheat
  • 3 medium onions
  • 1 glass of buckwheat flour
  • 1.5 cups of oatmeal
  • 200 grams of yellow cheese
  • 1 glass of breadcrumbs
  • 0.5 kg of mushrooms
  • Spices: salt, pepper, garlic and thyme

Peel onions, cut and fry, cook buckwheat and leave to cool. Pour oatmeal in two glasses of water, cook them for one minute after boiling, turn off the fire and leave for 15 minutes under cover. Serape the cheese, cut the mushrooms and fry. Grind all ingredients, add spices and breadcrumbs. Shape the cutlets (like minced meat), roll in breadcrumbs, chilled chops on both sides. Enjoy your meal!
